ayy lmaoPolicy debate is the original debate.
It is where teams of two advocate for and against a plan within the resolution. An affirmative team would argue advantages for their policy proposal while negatives would argue disadvantages, counter-advocacies, critiques of a mindset or that the plan is not topical. Policy debate is the best catalyst for developing most argumentation skills. Policy debaters undoubtedly have the best analytical skill, which is really the main reason why debate exists. Without this skill to understand forces of oppression, you are just another docile zombie. If you enjoy shallow disinterested debate, I recommend a subordinate event like public forum, or perhaps the non-national event of parliamentarians. |
